Last week was a whirl wind of activity. I have started to decorate Nutmeg Hill
and I have been making stokcings and ornaments galore.

Sunday was toppped off with attending the magnificent Vesper's service at Culver Military academy. It was captivating. Could not take photos in the church....but had you been there you would have been in awe of the grand decorations and wonderful
music. There were hundreds of people in attendance and all were enthralled.

STAGING THE HOUSE

From June to October I have been working on the house and staging it. Recently a South Bend Tribune writer visted my home and it will be featured on Saturday November 26th. I am very excited about this honor and thought I would share some photographs of the improvements. I am especially proud of the kitchen. It was all a lot of hard work but well worth it. We have been in a mad rush to stock up for the holidays and I have not been blogging at all. I really miss you and miss seeing all the wonderful offerings you create and seeing your families and friends on your blogs and all the fun activities.

OOOh yes we are. We have been stocking up our Ebay and Etsy shops and selling things in a auction every two weeks. Casey is painting up and restoring so many grand pieces of furniture and I am helping by reupholstering some items, creating bump chenille ornaments and restoring old baby clothes and offering vintage patterns.
A vintage apron that has never been used can be seen in the photos I just listed for you. We will be selling in a local antique shop soon and are very excited about this new venture. The owner requested are items and we are so honored.

We are also cooking up a surprise that will be coming in late October or the first of November. We will gradually fill you in on the details.

OOOH MY GOSH....This is my favorite find so far. This wonderful dress is made of lemon yellow organdy and it is so pretty with large wide sash ties, sleeveless and it has the most adorable collar. Classic styling ....where would you ever find another? I had dresses like this created by my mother with so much love. Dates from the 1940's - 1950's era. Hand washed carefully and placed in the Indiana sunshine to dry. Starched and hand pressed just for you. I think this is about a size 6. Just guessing. The waist is 22 inches. The entire dress from the top of the collar to the tip of the hem is approximately 35 inches. The dress is very full, dainty, delightful and dear. There are a few tiny spots(barely noticeable) that could easily be removed with a soak in biz and there is one minute area that has been mended with great care. The biggest Peke I have ever seen

Taber Jones is our Peke and he was given to me on my birthday. He is now one year and 5 months old and weighs 22 pounds. The largest a Peke should be is 14 pounds. The vet said that is as big as he will get when I asked her when Taber was a puppy.
He brings us so much joy. He is wearing a kerchief I designed for him and could design for your puppy. You can find the listing for the kerchief on Etsy it you are interested in purchasing one.

I am happy to be back blogging after my husband was in the hospital for over two weeks and much of the time was spent in intensive care. He has made a remarkable recovery and is regaining his strength at home now. I want to thank everyone who prayed for him and kept us in their thoughts. We are very grateful to you. It has been very difficult but I have kept my eye on the prize and I am over joyed to find him returning to his old self looking forward happily to every day. Being the care giver is not so bad when the person you love recovers.

It has been awhile since I posted anything about OUR GANG. Taber is in the photo as a puppy.He has grown into a sweet and lovable dog who always looks like he is smiling. He is pictured with his chin on the floor here. He will be one year old December 24th and he was a birthday present from my husband last February. Taber weighs 20 pounds...he is a very large Peke. Pansy who sits regally on the chair is a white Peke like Taber and is 10. She has been with us since she was 10 months old. She only weighs 12 pounds but can stand her ground any time with playful Taber. Tom Cat came to us as a starving kitten about six years ago....he will never go hungry again. He has always had my heart and everyone else loves him too. He is so good to the children and Taber who never leaves him alone. Tom is gentle and kind and friendly and loving and does not have a mean bone in his body. He has always been this way.
Send me a story about your dog or cat. I always love reading them. Animals are such a big part of our lives and I know they are the same in your life.

I have a sister-in-law that lives in Scotland and she called and asked me to whip up some gifts for the holiday season. Now she is a very lovely lady that has a mother in the nursing home who is 93 and Pat(my sister-in-law)visits her mother daily. She asked me to make her mother a wall hanging. Her mother is confined to her bed. Something she could look at all the time which could be placed on a wardrobe by her bed. Soooo today I made one of my fabric blocks of Icart's Christmas Wreath 1922 and started playing with all sorts of velvet and trim and adornments. This is the finished wall hanging. Thought you might like to see it. It was a lot of fun. You sort of make the background and then start playing with everything. Placing it here and there and everywhere. I also hand painted the details on the lady, wreath and cherub with German glass glitter.
I added a broach...very old as a finishing touch.

I just listed this on Ebay and I love working with our signature French organdy ruffles and this incredible fabric block with our Southern Belle with the pink plumed hat. She is a beauty and looks wonderful with Rachel

I wanted to tell you that the auction was a big success and we are very grateful for the turn out and the beautiful day God blessed us with.

I am now in the process of cleaning and redoing every room in the house. I have accomplished two rooms so far and it feels so good to have everything in order and freshly clean. We have truly eliminated much of the clutter and this makes the job easier. A clutter free home is my goal and we are on our way.

My son's daughter Ariana had a wonderful time this Easter. She is dressed in the Easter dress we gave her and the matching parasol. She participated in a wonderful Easter egg hunt and is having a wonderful time in pre kindergarten school in Wisconsin. I love these photos of her all dressed up. She has an eye for fashion and likes to dress her self as you see in some of the other photos.

TODAY we set a mirror on the floor until we could use it. By accident Taber our 2 1/2 month old Peke came upon the mirror and thought the image was another puppy. He rubbed noses with it...went around to the back of the mirror looking for the other puppy and was just adorable ...and he even barked at the puppy in the mirror. Thought you would enjoy these.

I love February...I love Valentine's day and my birthday is this month.
First I want to share with you a very romantic thought my Casey had. Friday night ... he said we are going to get up very early and go look at a kitchen cabinet I want to purchase. This was not remarkable as we often look at antiques to restore. He loves doing the old Hoosier cabinets. Well Saturday morning came and he said I want to tell you that we are going to look at a Golden Retriever puppy. I had told him I wanted one. No one has ever bought me a puppy or kitten for my birthday ...not even when I was little...I thought it was so sweet of him to think of this. We did not go and look at the puppy...I think it is a romantic thought of mine....actually having the puppy well that is really something to consider. We may go look today...but the puppy has now turned into a Peke to look at.

Does anyone write love letters....I think we need to bring this beautiful tradition back and send love letters back and forth all the time to those we love. To our husband's we could choose lovely papers and pretty ink and scent our messages. Even tie it with a little ribbon and add a bit of candy. We could tuck them inside their jackets without them knowing or in a shirt pocket and they would unexpetedly find our thoughts there to their delight.

We can send happy thoughts to our children telling them what we value about them
and how much we love them and how grateful we are to have them...even little ones culd receive notes of love from us...with a little toy or sutffed animal hidden somewhere they could find it...even outdoors. A message in a tree with a thoughful gift for a child is so sweet and they will be thrilled to find it.

We can send messages to our grandchildren telling them we adore them. We all do!!

Send a note to your Grandmother or Grandfather...they will be so grateful that you cared.

I am just about there. It is 5:16 AM Christmas Eve day and I hope to make cookies this morning. Despite the fact that we have had our electric off twice

we are back on track and the house is decorated and ready for the big day. My son and his family arrive at noon and my daughter will be here on December 25th. Both days we will celebrate with a big family supper.

I also snapped these photos during the ice storm. You might enjoy them. They are my first attempt at photographic art and the images are available on Etsy for sale.

I also snapped some photos of Casey's latest project which is just about finished except for a few more green glass knobs. This is just amazing and to think he is 80 and still accomplishing so much. I just don't know how he does it?

TOM CAT IS HAVING A CAT NAP!!

Here is my beloved TOM CAT having a very nice cat nap on the new bench I just finished. He can barely keep his eyes open. Tom came to us as a kitten on a snowy very cold January morn. My husband called to me to hurry outside and there Tom was hiding in the bushes. Very cold ....I ran in and got him some food and milk and every mouth full he took he made a terrible cry of hunger. I will never forget and I doubt if Tom will. I immediately scooped him up and took him inside and promised him he would never go hungry again. He was very tiny and I used to tell my husband and his son...OOOH JUST LOOK AT THIS BIG TOM CAT...and they would laugh and say I was out of my mind and that Tom would never be very big...well as you can see I was right...he is one BIG TOM CAT...I can barely lift him any more. My grandchildren are wild about him and he is the most loving cat and so kind to the children. Send me one of your cat or dog stories. I would love hearing it. ooooH MY GOSH!!!I am having so much fun creating for you. I love to decorate and to be allowed to decorate for others in my idea of a dream occupation. This absolutely adorable stocking was made from a vintage Florida tablecloth and the reverse is a red and white antique hand pieced and stitched quilt. The tip of the toe has a jingle bell and there is a matching loop for display made from the tablecloth. Imagine this stocking in your home in Florida or if you were born in Florida display it proudly. Think about giving these to a friend in Florida filled with sweet gifts and sweets and what a remarkable gift these stockings would make. This stocking is 25 inches long from the top of the cuff to the tip of the toe. It is lined and has great body. It looks and feels luxurious. I have been creating a variety of pincushuions with a touch of whimsy lately and they are so much fun to make. Mine are fragrant with lavender and they fill your room with the scent. OOOh my gosh girls ....look at this. This adorable snow suit is vintage perfection. In excellent condition and made by Fieldston and is all wool with suede accents. There is a designer style tag on the front flap of the jacket and it says MAN TAILORED FIELDSTON. The suede accents can be found on the collar,front and back yoke and suede buttons and the leggings or JODPHERS. The jodphers have slightly flared bottoms at the ankle and zippers to easily place the leggings on a child. The leggings are like riding pants or vintage hunting pants...such amazing style. This also has a delightful hat with flaps. Although this is for a little boy it could easily be adapted for a little girl by just adding your own hat. I think a little fur hat on a girl would be grand with this snow suit.Tooooo good to be true. I like to picture this in my mind's eye on a child sitting in one of our vintage Taylor Tot strollers and then imagine that on your Christmas card this year. It would just carry them away. LAUNDRY JAR AND 15 CUPS OF HANDMADE LAVENDER LAUNDRY SOAP

Just between us girls...I have always loved beautiful containers to store items in. Just don't like those plastic tubs and holders. Never did. I recently made this vintage gallon jar into a laundry soap container. I added the image of our darling girl doing her doll laundry. The top is painted a great jadeite green with the little girl image and a beautiful French green ribbon has been added to the jar with a tag with the same image you see on the jar. The images are clear coated to protect the art work.The jar hold 15 cups of handmade lavender laundry soap which is included with the jar. You can also buy the jar without the laundry soap. The jar is listed both ways on Ebay and you can find the jar on Etsy also. I hope to make more decorative storage jars soon. Keep in watching.

OOOH DARLING!LOOK GIRLS I FINISHED THE BASSINET*SNEAK PEEK

TADAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA it is finished. It has taken me over a month to accomplish this little work of art but now it is ready to show you and I wanted you to be the first to see it. It is not even on Ebay yet. OOOh so darling all dressed in pink and white and roses and embroidery and wonderful detail. The sweetest lining in those shabby cottage quilted roses and battenburg lace. Four pillows and two are hand embroidered from old embroidery pieces. The doll quilt sports hand embroidery with the sunbonnet girl and quilted roses and fabric from Cheryl. The doll is included. Many more photographs will be forth coming in the Ebay auction. Don't miss. This is one of a kind. I will never make another like this.

OOOH GIRLS LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT CHERYL AND JAMES DACK AND THEIR CONFECTIONS FABRIC

Today I finally finished a doll quilt for my vintage doll bassinet. I am not showing you the completed project yet ....just the doll quilt. I ordered this "yummy" fabric from Cheryl and James Dack who have just recently created the most delightful website called CONFECTIONS FABRIC and you can find them at http://www.confectionsfabric.com/. This beautiful fabric with the roses which borders my doll quilt was found there and I can tell you it is just perfect for this project. I embroidered the sun bonnet girl with the market basket on a piece of vintage linen and the pink fabric with the beautiful roses from CONFECTIONS FABRIC became a wide border. The back of the quilt is

that wonderful shabby chic quilted roses we have all fallen in love with. If you need fabric Cheryl and James Dack are the people to see.
