HAVING FUN DECORATING WITH VINTAGE FABRICS

We have been dowsizing and updating and I am having fun creating my own style with vintage fabric. I think it is so important for everyone to put their own signature on their decorating so that it does not look like any one else's home. Yesterday I decorated the master bath. We have large mirrors in the sink and vanity dressing room area. We had these framed out with moulding and the result was spectacular. It updated the whole effect of the mirrors. I also used tw vintage chenilles on the shower curtain and some wonderful old barkcloth on the commode and tank cover with a flouce of white organdy. I changed out the pictures and added some fresh new towels. I tried to use what I had and only added what was needed like the frames on the mirrors and the shades on the lights...almost everything else I hade except for the new green bath towels.

YARDS AND YARDS OF WHITE ORGANDY AT THE WINDOWS

When I was a child my mother always made me organdy pinafores and organdy dresses...next to barkcloth and velvet it is my all time favorite fabric. Some time ago I showed you what I did in the family room...here is the bay window dressed in yards and yards of white organdy.

HOW TO ON THE GLASS DOORS

Some of you asked me if we did this ourselves. No we had a carpenter do it. The labor and the glass total were $60.00. I can tell you it would cost a bundle more to have new doors like this. Just between us girls always get a quote for the project before you start. Then you will have no surprises when the invoice is presented by the carpenter. I did all the painting on the doors. The carpenter put on a base coat around the trim on the glass. That made painting the edges much easier. I am going to do another door like this and it will open up the whole house. I love this look. I am also going to put glass in some of the cabinets in my kitchen to update the look. Far less costly them some of those ideas out there to get new kitchen cabinets. The new looks are sooooo wonderful but so costly and how many people can really afford to replace all their kitchen cabinets today???? Thank you for stopping by and for your comments. It is lovely to hear from you.

A WONDERFUL WAY TO BRING LIGHT INTO A ROOM

OOOOh my dear girls...I want you to keep this just between us. I just put glass in these sweet French doors and just look how the light filters through the hall and affords a beautiful view of the landscape. I just love this look and it is easily accomplished by simply placing glass in your existing door. Now this could also be done on any door you wanted and is so much cheaper then doing a new door. I think frosted glass on a bath or bedroom door would be spectacular and you could have BATH etched into the frosted glass. Wait till you see the etching Casey is going to do on my kitchen cabinets when I re do the kitchen. I simply cannot wait to show you and have lots of other decorating ideas I think will delight you.

Please hurry back and do leave a comment so I can visit your blogs as well.

ALTERED ART INSPIRATION

TODAY I listed this spectacular wall plaque on Ebay which features 11 beautiful tin butterflies and is painted a shabby ivory biscuit. I orginally purchased this for an altered art project and I wanted to make flower children to adhere to each butterfly and add ribbon roses and ribbon streamers. OOOh this could be an amazing altered art project. It is 25 inches long...well just between us girls....I have deceided to focus on selling all the items in the house which are beautiful but which we can no longer care for....so check this plaque out in my Ebay auctions if you are inspired by this offering. Also see all the wonderful offerings we have with low opening bids and no reserve. Thank you for stopping by. I love to hear from you so please leave a comment.
