Dear Girls....I am thinking a lot about baking. Can you tell?

OOOh my gosh as I was cleaning I came upon this very rare set of RUDOLPH THE RED NOSED REINDEER CAKE AND CUP CAKE PANS. Never used but a VINTAGE TREASURE. I will be selling these on Ebay today but I thought I would give you a sneak preview. Check out my auctions today. Lots of surprises and everything is priced to sell. Great items for stocking stuffers and more.

Hope to talk with you again very soon. I am loving this blogging stuff!!! Thank you, Cheryl!!!! OOOOh and remember to keep this JUST BETWEEN US GIRLS!

This recipe was given to me by a dear lady in Wisconsin who baked for country clubs.... GINGERBREAD BOYS

OOOh these are the best ginger bread boys in the world!!

ONE CUP SHORTENING OR BUTTER

ONE CUP LIGHT BROWN SUGAR

3 EGGS WELL BEATEN

ONE AND ONE HALF CUP MOLASSES

2 1/2 TEASPOONS SALT

5 - 6 CUPS BREAD FLOUR...IT MUST BE BREAD FLOUR(I ALWAYS USE SIX CUPS)

1/2 TEASPOON GROUND GINGER

1 1/2 TEASPOONS SODA

ONE TEASPOON CINNAMON

Cream shortening. Add sugar, eggs and molasses. Sift dry ingredients and add to creamed ingredients gradually. Divide into two balls. CHILL IN FRIG. Roll out onto cutting board sprinkled with flour...be certain to sprinkle and rub the flour onto your rolling pin as well. Cut with a ginger bread cookie cutter or other shapes if you desire. Dip the cookie cutter into the flour as well before cutting. I place a hole in the ginger bread boys if I want to use these cookies for ornaments. YOU CAN EAT THESE. I use red ribbon...these look darling on the tree. Bake your GINGERBREAD BOYS on ungreased cookie sheets at 350 degrees until DONE BUT NOT CRISP. Decorate as desired.

PRESSED CINNAMON ORNAMENTS AND BUTTONS * DO NOT EAT

Remember to call these pressed cinnamon ornaments. What fun to make for your Christmas trees and feather trees and to give as gifts. OOOh and the children love making these beautiful fragrant ornaments.

In a medium bowl combine:
ONE CUP GROUND CINNAMON
ONE TABLESPOON GROUND CLOVES
ONE TABLESPOON GROUND NUTMEG

STIR IN 3/4 CUP APPLESAUCE AND TWO TABLESPOONS OF TACKY GLUE(THIS GLUE CAN BE FOUND AT CRAFT STORES)

Work mixture with hands for two or three minutes (I use plastic throw-away gloves) to form a ball. If mixture is too dry, add more applesauce and if it is too wet, add more cinnamon.

Knead the ball on a cinnamon-sprinkled surface until it holds together well. (Remember ....continue to sprinkle a little cinnamon on the board and rolling pin as you roll out ornaments. Divide the ball into four equal parts and roll out each one a one fourth inch thick. Cut dough with cookie cutters...dip the cutter into the cinamon before you cut. Make sure to make a little hole in the top of each ornament you cut out for a ribbon or wire to hang the ornament with. Place your cut out ornaments on a cookie sheet (use parchment paper to line the cookie sheet to make it easier to remove the finished ornaments) and LET THEM AIR DRY. Turn the ornaments over from time to time to make certain they dry evenly. It can take up to 24 hours or even two days for the ornaments to dry properly. For faster drying results you can place in the sun or dry in an oven set at 200 degrees for an hour or less, but the very best results are achieved by air drying.

Now remember to keep this idea JUST BETWEEN US GIRLS. Have fun. OOOOh and also remember YOU CANNOT EAT THESE ORNAMENTS...they will fill your house with the most delightful fragrance. You will have the scent of CHRISTMAS EVERYWHERE.

OOOh keep these secret ingredients JUST BETWEEN US GIRLS

I want to share some of the things that I make with you today. I have made these items for years and they are always a hit. They can be given as gifts or you can keep them. Have fun creating...my favorite thing to do every day.

Before I get started cleaning

OOOh my gosh...it is such a busy time here at Nutmeg Hill and everywhere. My daughter and her family are visiting this Friday and we will have a late night Christmas supper. Elizabeth has three growing boys. I adore my grandsons and cannot wait till they all visit. Turkey and all the trimmings. Tell me your plans and traditions...I can use some new ideas. I am cleaning the house from top to bottom and decorating for Christmas.
Is that what you are doing at your house?

Just Between Us Girls, you must see this!!

OOOh this is the most wonderful glove box I have ever seen. Just stunning, filled with the most delightful ornaments and it was all created by my best friend on Ebay, Cheryl. She sells on Ebay as ROSEYPOSEYBOUTIQUE and I am telling you girls, her talent abounds. She has made many beautiful items for me over the years and her children's clothing is just the best. Check Cheryl's offerings out on Ebay and on etsy and be sure to see this glove box. It is a keeper!

One of Our Favorite Girls
