COME ON IN AND MAKE YOURSELF COMFORTABLE!

We will just open the door and here we are. So warm and cozy. You will find me sitting at the computer in the living room. I have high hopes for the New Year. How about you? I hope to get rid of some more clutter...I accomplished that in the kitchen and the bedrooms upstairs before Christmas and what a relief that is and the house is still pretty tidy since I cleaned and decorated the powder room downstairs.
My grandaughter Ariana will visit before the first of the year and I cannot wait but after she goes home I plan to paint the family room and spruce it up...photos will be forth coming as I progress in my quest of less clutter and more beauty and to simply our lives.
I have not been making a lot of things right now...but I hope to start in after the first of the year...it is always so rewarding to craft don't you think?
I am in the process of listing a lot of new images on Ebay for you and I need to run now and get back to work. Just thought I would stop for a little while and visit with you. I always enjoy it so much. Happy New Year to you all and may it be very healthy and prosperous for you as well.

Happy New Year

OOOh my gosh...this little girl looks just like it does outside here at Nutmeg Hill. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Now come on inside where it is cozy and warm and sit down and I will make you a cup of hot chocolate or tea and we will make plans for the bright New Year.

THE CHRISTMAS TREE

The Christmas tree in beauty stands
With branches spread like open hands.
The gifts it gives more than imparts
The joy it shares with childish hearts.

It suddenly transforms a room
To one of joy instead of gloom,
Shining as though a magic wand
Had changed it all to fairyland.

The lights, the stars, the angel wings
Share in the pleasure that it brings.
Of all my gifts, I'd rather see
A great big shining Christmas tree.
Good evening girls. I have not been blogging much lately. Trying to get caught up on my orders. I was able to list some enamelware items on Ebay this evening and here is a sneak preview of one of the items. These sweet items are just perfect for adding some interest to your kitchen and for storing items in a beautiful and attractive way. I hope you are all caught up on your Christmas shopping and have time for a hot chocolate and Christmas cookie or two. I know I would love that.

Look at all the snow we have. You can see it in the background of the cake saver photograph. It gives the house such a warm glow.
Well girls I am off to list some more. Take a look on Ebay if you have a chance at my store...you might be amazed at what you can find.

Now let us keep this just between us girls.

JUST A FEW SNAPS FROM THE LATE NIGHT CHRISTMAS SUPPER

Dear girls,

As you all know I have been preparing for days for a late night Christmas supper with my daughter and her husband and three beautiful boys. We enjoyed a feast of Tom turkey and all the trimmings. The glow from the candles filled the room and all was cozy and wonderful. Wish you could have joined us girls. Here are just a few snaps of the family.

And Ohhhhh Look at These!

Some More of My Santa Collection!

Santa Claus is Coming To Town!

We are ready for Christmas. How about you?

LITTLE GIRLS VINTAGE APRONS

oooH MY GOSH GIRLS....I have been colleting vintage children's clothing forever and I am listing some precious vintage children's aprons today on Ebay...here is a sneak preview and please do keep this JUST BETWEEN US GIRLS!

Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Claus

This is another of my very favorite stories.....Dear Editor, I am 8 years old. Some of my little friends say there is no Santa Claus. Papa says "If you see it in The Sun it is so." Please tell me the truth; is there a Santa Claus? Virginia O'Hanlon.....Virginia, your little friends are WRONG. They have been affected by the skepticism of a skeptical age. They do not believe except they see. They think that nothing can be which is not comprehensible by their little minds. All minds, Virginia, whether they be men's or children's, are little. In this great universe of ours man is a mere insect, an ant, in his intellect, as compared with the boundless world about him, as measured by the intelligence capable of grasping the whole of truth and knowledge.

Yes Virginia, there is a SANTA CLAUS. He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy. Alas! how dreary would be the world if there were no SANTA CALUS!!!! It would be as dreary as if there were no Virginias. There would be no childlike faith , no poetry, no romance to make tolerable this existence. We should hav no enjoyment, except in sense and sight. The eternal light with which childhood fills the world woud be extinguished.

Not believe in Santa Claus! You might as well not believe in fairies! You might get your papa to hire men to watch in all the chimneys on Christmas Eve to catch Santa Calus, but even if they did not see Santa Claus coming down, what would that prove? Nobody sees Santa Claus, but that is no sign there is no SANTA CLAUS. The most real things in the world are those that neither children or men can see. No SANTA CLAUS! Thank God, he lives, and he lives FOREVER. A thousand years from now, Virginia, nay, ten times ten thousand years from now, he will continue to make glad the heart of childhood. THE NEW YOUR SUN, SEPTEMBER 21, 1897

I LOVE SANTA CLAUS

GIFTS*MORE THEN MATERIAL * LOVE * SUPPORT * KINDNESS * KNOWLEDGE

I want to tell you that I am loving the comments you are sending me about the things that you love. Thank you so much. Please keep them coming in. They touch my heart and lift my spirit and make me realize how blessed we all are.

I was also thinking about gifts ...the ones that really mean something and stay with us for years SUCH AS WHEN.....
- A friend or family member supports us through a difficult time. My friend Marcy seems to know exactly how to do this time after time and my friend Caroline from Ebay has helped me over and over again with understanding my concerns with Casey's health.

- When someone is so kind to us it brings a tear to our eye and touches our heart and lifts our spirit. My daughter helped me clean the house and reorganize it when Casey was in the hospital at one time and my little grandaughter tells me I need a glass of water to feel better when I have a coughing spell...she was only 3 at the time. Such sweetness from them both.

- When someone shares with us knowledge that we have the rest of our lives. My mother taught me to embroider and cook and how to show love to my family.

- When somone touches our heart and soul with love and we never forget it. Casey, my husband even at almost 80 always offers to help me with the most difficult tasks and does it cheerfully and kindly and happily.

These are the greatest gifts.

Now girls....tell me about specific situations or spiritual gifts that you have received. I would love that.

OOOh I must run...I need to finish the house up and prepare for my daughter and husband and grandsons on Friday. Can't wait.

I love blogging and talking with you and hearing all your sweet comments. OOOh do keep them coming in.

Also girls be certain to check out my new Ebay listings...I am trying to keep everything I list under $20.00 with absolutely no reserve and I will list many for just five days.

A pretty little poem just for you girls....

If one could just go back again and be a child at Christmastime,
to feel anew that breathless thrill, that tiptoe sense of awe sublime,
to sing the carols one knows best and light the candles, view the tree,
to hear the reindeer on the roof and almost feel that one could see beneath
the mistletoe and holy Santa's face so round and jolly,

To go with mother to the town and buy a doll for Nancy,
to try and stretch some dollars for a present fine and fancy,
to have the smell of evergreen send happy shivers down the spine,
to hang red ribbons on a wreath of hemlock, spruce, and pine,
to capture all that INNER GLOW WE USED TO FEEL SO LONG AGO,

To creep down the to the fireplace so early on that quiet morn
and lift that lumpy stocking down....
the one that has your name pinned on,
to scurry with it back upstairs and empty it upon the bed....
nuts and candy, cake and pears and giant apples, polished red,
OH! to be that child again at HAPPY CHRISTMASTIME!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Now never fear...I will keep this all JUST BETWEEN US GIRLS.

The things I love.......

I just love the Christmas story THE GIFT OF THE MAGI by O'Henry. Have your read it? Christmas is all about love and this story is just the best illustration of what real love means. Now run to the library and get it and I mean run. There will be a tear in your eye when you do.

I love this Christmas list which George Washington himself prepared of presents he planned to give to his children on Christmas day, 1759.
A BIRD ON BELLOWS, A CUCKOO, A TURNABOUT PARROT, A GROCERS SHOP, AN AVIARY, A PRUSSIAN DRAGON, A MAN SMOAKG, A TURNBRIDGE TEA SETT, 3 NEAT TURNBRIDGE TOYS, A NEAT BOOK FASH TEA CHEST, A BOX BEST HOUSEHOLD STUFF, A STRAW PATCH BOX WITH A GLASS, A NEAT DRESSED WAX BABY.

I love being an American. I love to see the flag raised and everyone placing their hand over their heart. OOh it still gives me chills at my age.

I love when my grandson stands at the bottom of the stairs and calls to me upstairs and says, "GRANDMA DO YOU WANT TO COME DOWN AND PLAY WITH ME?"

I love it when my grandaughter calls me GRANDMAMA and almost sings it when she says it.

I love my friend Cheryl...who is truly a gift from God.

I love my children. They are a great gift from God as well. No doubt the best gift I will ever get.

I love it when Casey (my husband) brings me a candy bar in the middle of the afternoon for no reason at all. I love him with all my heart.

I love my cat Tom and he adores me. It makes Casey a bit jealous because Tom truly loves me best and if you have a cat you know how devoted they can be. My littlest grandchild, Anna, who is only two, was riding in the car after being at our house and she said quite BOLDLY AND LOUDLY...."I LOVE TOM CAT." Me, too, Anna...Me, too.

I love a crisp winter day and the sound my boots make on the snow - sort of a squeak or crunch....OOOOh you know what I mean, girls. It is a wonderful sound.

I love May and all the spring flowers. It is always a new beginning to me.

Write and tell me what you love. I love hearing from you and you know
I will keep it just between us girls.
I am off for a nap...now that sounds like a marvellous idea!!!!! I love it!

Some more delightful items for all you girls.

I love details. Details are what make decorating so much fun and all your own and girls these are some darling items to place in your bath or powder room. A sweet seller on Ebay named Audrey is offering these switch plate covers and pretty commode covers that are simply charming in the bath. As you know girls I just redecorated my powder room and and I am on the search for more details which are unique and charming. Check out her etsy shoppe here. I'm just sure you will be glad you did. I know I was.
